For students who had been crowded into aging portable classroom buildings, the new 33,885 SF Humanities and Sociology Classroom Building has been a welcome addition to the campus. Designated as the 400 building, this two-story, type-V complex is linked with covered walkways to protect students from the extreme regional temperatures. In order to offer an enhanced learning environment for English, anthropology, philosophy, sociology and psychology studies, the building is orchestrated to encourage intellectual exchange between students and instructors. The first floor houses four classrooms, four laboratory/classrooms, a library and two assembly rooms. The second floor houses four classrooms, three laboratory/classroom/service areas and 16 faculty offices. Classrooms are designed for flexibility, with plug and play technology, built-in projection capability and smart boards. The 65-seat humanities assembly room features tiered, stadium-style seating and can be set up as a theater for films or lectures.
