Renovation projects within the Mark Taper Imaging Center, all regulated by OSHPD, included removing and replacing the existing MRI equipment, removing and replacing existing x-ray equipment, renovating RF shielding in both the MRI and interior procedure rooms, and updating the nurse call system. The imaging center is located in the center of the hospital and directly adjacent to the emergency department requiring doorways to be widened along the path of travel. The remodel involved significant reconstruction to all utilities/systems without impacting medical center operations. The project team developed innovative solutions to issues relating to noise, dust and pedestrian traffic. Because of the complexity of the project, C.W. Driver carefully tracked the multiple functions and phases required with critical path construction scheduling in order to complete the project on time.
