The one-story Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk office structure is designed to accommodate the department’s growing needs, including state-of-the-art archival storage. The north bar of the building is primarily comprised of the tax collector and recorder functions, while the south bar is dedicated to assessor and staff support spaces. Office areas within both departments have access to natural light and views outside. The archives and all associated program components are located in the northeast corner of the building. Conceptualized as a vault, the archives are enclosed within highly insulated concrete walls. As a net-zero project, the building form is derived by maximizing passive strategies, including harnessing prevailing breezes and natural daylighting and capturing solar energy.
