The Malibu Middle and High School Phase 2 project encompasses approximately 40,000 GSF of new academic, wellness, and athletic facilities, including the Middle School Hub, Middle School Gymnasium, and associated site improvements. Rooted in the community’s vision to create distinct identities for the middle and high schools, the Middle School Hub completes the middle school core and features a media lab, special education and counseling spaces, wellness center, food service, and shaded outdoor areas.
The new Middle School Gymnasium is strategically located near the High School Gym for convenient access and campus connectivity and includes a multi-sport court, fitness studio, and ocean-view deck. Designed in harmony with Malibu’s coastal canyon setting, the buildings incorporate contextual materials, natural ventilation, and ocean views to create a strong sense of place. High-performance strategies, including photovoltaic panels, ceiling fans, and operable windows, further enhance energy efficiency, sustainability, and administration and student comfort.
